Arabella Hunt was a gifted musician who served at the court of Queen Mary II Arabella married James Howard on 12 September 1680. In the eyes of the law James was a woman called Amy Poulter, who dressed in male clothes, and had courted Arabella dressed as a man and as a woman. Six months later Arabella went to court to have the marriage annulled.
We will never know what Arabella and Amy really knew or felt. In this short performance we imagine how Arabella may have reflected upon their situation.
